Window Cleaning Services : Residential & Commercial Rope Access.

- Planning ahead -

Here are some things to keep in mind when looking for your quote:

  • Safety - Will it be done in a safe and compliant manner?

  • Access - How will it be done?

  • Disruption - Will this affect the daily routine?

  • Scope of service - What would you like to have done?

  • Liability - What am I liable for and how do I mitigate that?

There are many safety standards implemented in the construction/maintenance industry on both the equipment, and the manner in which it's done. These are regulated by organizations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute). Training above all is paramount, these rules are in place for a reason - to save lives.

Building Managers are responsible for the work that is done on the property. One is to insure appropriate safety measures are taken in compliance with local regulations, and that workers and subcontractors adhere to these codes. Please do your due diligence and make educated decisions regarding workplace safety. Consult your insurance providers or Environmental Health & Safety Management team for further guidance. If the building is not equipped with proper fall protection systems, a referral will be given for a specialty contractor to design a custom system that meets the buildings individual needs.

As with many things, the methods available to get the job done increase proportionally with time. A mixture of the following methods may be used depending on the building and scope of service.

  • Water fed poles (Deionized water is utilized to clean windows with the technician working from the ground.)

  • Ladders (A conventional form of conquering gravity with the use of extension ladders.)

  • Rope access (A preferred form of access 40' and above in terms of safety, exposure, likelihood, and severity. Ropes from the roof are used to suspend the technician at working height.) Note that any work preformed 4 stories or above will be done exclusively with rope access. Refer to ‘Rope Access’ tab in the navigation bar.

  • Aerial man-lifts ( A man-lift is a complex vehicle that provides a maneuverable work platform where other forms of access may not be appropriate.)

When looking for the appropriate window cleaning company, it is important to know what you would like done. Chiarezza Windows, LLC. currently accepts clients 10 stories and under. Ask about tailoring the scope of service to fit your needs, the little things often make the difference when attempting to find the balance between price and return.
